This little shade loving perennial is cute and easily grown. It is a great starter plant for those new to gardening, but also well loved by experienced gardeners for it's appearance and easy habit. Toad lily emerges in mid-spring  growing stalks of cascading green/yellow leaves. While Autumn Glow is prized among cultivars for the width and strength of its variegated margins. It has pink/purple orchid-like flowers that emerge in late-summer and persist until early fall, making it a great option to add color in a late season shade garden.

This plant thrives in shade. It looks great in mass plantings, spread throughout a hardscape or with trees in the shade. The height really helps it accent fences retaining walls or hardscape decorations like wagons and benches.

Tricyrtis formosana Autumn Glow

Tricrytis performs best in humus-rich, evenly moist soil in partial to full shade. It is very long-lived and easy to grow. It tends to be a late-riser, so don't worry if you don't see this plant coming up with other perennials in early spring. Your patience will be greatly rewarded. This species spreads to form wide clumps. Division is recommended every 3-4 years in spring to maintain vigor.
