The forsythia shrub is the light at the end of winter. It is one of the first plants to bloom in the early spring and its flowers offer a warm yellow to the cold backdrop of winter that is still in the air. The Spring Gold forsythia will add an explosion of gorgeous, bright yellow flowers that cover the branches fully for weeks. Its foliage also offers a beautiful fall color of maroon mixed with gold and yellow. The forsythia has beautiful multi green foliage. The leaves on the old growth are a darker green and the new growth sports bright green leaves. Forsythia x intermedia and its cultivars have the ability to get large if not kept trimmed. If you have a space to allow this shrub to grow freely as a stand-alone specimen it will provide a beautiful flowing display as it branches reach out. It is also used as a border shrub or hedge and even a patio shrub as it does well with being trimmed and shaped.
