This columnar variety of the sweetbay magnolia is a personal favorite. We like the shape, the foliage, and the blooms. Glossy deep green foliage adds texture and depth of color through the entire year. In addition, the columnar shape of the tree (12’ x 30’) makes it perfect for single leader growth, allowing it to serve as a vertical accent along porches, patios, walks and drives. In the spring and early summer, cream colored blooms accent the deep green foliage and add to what is an already stunning display. While Green Mile is still a relatively uncommon tree, it is one that we often recommend to friends because it provides a unique low maintenance tree that the neighbors will envy.

In zone 5 this tree may shed all of its leaves during the colder months, but will replenish them in the spring. Zone 6+ the tree will only shed some of its leaves in the winter months, while retaining a portion.

Mile High Magnolia

Our tree arrived well packaged with the roots packed with damp soil within a plastic bag. The tree is in a dormant state, but the branches were all intact and have a lovely alternating branch structure. We can’t wait to watch it come to life this spring.
