The Emerald Green Arborvitae is a great choice when you are looking for a screening or border plant. They have a nice, uniformed, conical shape that stays very narrow, and since they are an evergreen they provide year round coverage. They are also used as foundation plants since they have such a narrow form and their height can be maintained with proper pruning. You often see them on the corners of homes or fencing where their evergreen fan shaped leaves add a soft accent. Arborvitae are slow growing until they have established good root growth so it can take a few years before you will see a faster growth rate. It is also hardy to the cold and to drought once it is establish so you may need to watch over it and water frequently for the first few years especially in hotter zones. Early care is important when growing these trees in pairs or as a screen because you want to keep a uniformed appearance.
