Double blooming echinacea are some of our favorite perennial flowers for providing consistent blankets of late-season bright colors. The 41/2 inch flowers emerge orange, but quickly change to a raspberry pink giving an interesting multi-hue effect to the display. Plants are consistently sized, and Flowers are a medium height at 26-28 inches perfect for the middle of a border garden.
When we select echinacea, we focus on disease resistance, consistency, and display. the DOUBLE DIPPED® collection provides excellent full color from the double blooms. One drawback to a double coneflower is that it will provide less benefit to pollinators, so we do recommend pairing it with a non-double coneflower or other non-sterile variety.
Coneflower, also known as echinacea, is a wonderful perennial native to the U.S. midwest and prairies. They do best in a light loamy soil, but can thrive in any well-drained soil. Full sunlight and heat are best for full flowering, while they can tolerate some light shade, we recommend at least 6 hours of full sun each and every day. Once established they are very drought resistant making them a great plant for those looking for a low water/ low maintenance garden. As a perennial flower, if cared for correctly echinacea will return with new growth each year.
