The Aurora® dogwood, developed by Rutgers, has outstanding beauty and disease resistance thanks to it's hybrid lineage. Named for the saucer shaped overlapping bright white blooms, which at a distance appear like round circles dotting the tree. This small tree will light up a shady space or provide a mid-late spring focus in your garden. Bright green glossy leaves emerge in spring, which are tougher than cornus florida and less bothered by insects. Leaves darken by mid to late spring providing an excellent backdrop to the crisp white circular blooms.
Due to it's size and beauty, it is an outstanding tree for near the home, planting among shade trees, or anywhere in the garden. In the spring it will come alight with large white flowers and in the summer its elegant upward form provides a great showpiece nestled among other trees or structures. For those who want all of the characteristics of a dogwood, intense blooms, and extra hardiness, this tree is an outstanding choice.
